Clelia Adams

Clelia Adams, started her career as a music journalist for Go-Set magazine, then in Product and Marketing for WEA Records in Sydney, before heading to London, Europe & Canada, working in the music industry overseas. She has amassed extensive experience in both management and performance sides of the industry.

As Country Music Capital, Tamworth's most loved songbird, Clelia was the mainstay of major dance venues, collecting a loyal and enviable following everywhere she performed. The Tamworth years saw Clelia as the city's most sought after session singer, having sung on literally hundreds of country music albums recorded in the city's studios, including some of country music's biggest names. Clelia relocated to the Northern Rivers, settling in Mullumbimby for her "sea change" in 2000.

Her first solo album in l996 "Fine Company", entwined country, blues, R & B & jazz, and received rave reviews. Then in 2001 saw the release of a new CD "Bring It On", once again combining musical genres, with its roots firmly in Country, Western Swing, Honky Tonk and Rockabilly.

Using the finest western swing musicians in Australia, The Feral Swing Katz, including Stuart French (guitars & co-producer), Michel Rose (pedal steel, mandolin, dobro), Doug Gallagher (drums and percussion), Gary Steele (piano & accordian), James Gillard (bass) and Kevin Bennett (guitar & vocals), and Clelia's daughter Jessie on backing vocals.

"Bring It On" is a classic country album, combining timeless country melodies from the 40"s and 50's by Jimmy Rogers, Hank Williams & Bob Wills, through to modern contemporary country by John Prine, Tom Waits, kd lang, Lloyd Price and George Strait. This album has put Clelia at the top of her field in Australian country music and has kick started her International career, with airplay and chart success all over Europe, UK, Japan, NZ and Australia. Her European singles are released through the Hillcrest compilation and in Australia on NFS.

The first singles into Europe "Bring It On" (a duet with Sydney cult hero Kevin Bennett from the Flood), and "You're Gonna Love Me One Day", both had EMS Indie chart success, and in 2002, Clelia's highest ranking for radio airplay in Europe was No. 37. Both songs were also released in Australia on NFS and received major national airplay. John Prine's great modern classic "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness" was the one that cracked both Indie and Mainstream charts, reaching No. 23 on the ECMA (European Country Music Association) chart in February, 2004. It stayed on the chart for 12 weeks. Meanwhile, George Strait's "Cowgirl Rides Away" was released and hit the charts with a bang, making two songs on the same chart. "Cowgirl" is currently at No. 6 on the ECMA chart this week (22 Aug 04).

"Speed of the Sound of Loneliness" is released into Australia on August NFS 90, 2004.

Clelia delivers a top class, professional, up market show. Audiences everywhere are knocked out by her versatility, personality and dynamic vocals.
